DAnnnnnng I miss writing on here!!!!
Too busy touring touring touring to have a moments rest to consolidate my thoughts onto my sacred website…
damn I reckon the last time I wrote on here was right after Coachella… We’ve done at least 3 tours since then. Not sure how to count em technically… NZ/Australia, opening for Tyler Childers, opening for Bleachers, a buncha festivals (Mosswood, Newport, Green River, Nelsonville…. I’m definitely forgetting some)
I have however been keeping up with my monthly Youtube videos… everything we’ve been up to has been documented on there <3 I’ve officially been doing these every month for over a decade!!! aaaa!!
I only ever seem to find time to write on here when I’m experiencing insane layovers on heinous travel days…. I’m milling about for 6 hours in the airport in Rome in the midst of what has so far been a 16 hour travel day to Sicily.
We play in an old castle tomorrow for Ypsigrock festival <3
We’re about to do our first tour ever on a tour bus! Playing a bunch of cities we’ve never ever been to!
Practicing to perform w miss Williams at Newport
Dinner at Greek Islands in Chicago ( yum 10/10 )
stadium pic from the dummy head phone
Crazy atrium at the hotel by the airport … um …. Des Moines Iowa I believe
PAVEMENT???Q?!?>:!OP!JPIOJWPOJAW

softball at Newport…. blew the other team out of the water completely 14-3 HA
A few notable memories I’d like to take down:
Our first show at a stadium was an opening show at Madison Square Garden… the production was running real late and we didn’t get a soundcheck. So the first moment I ever played a note in a stadium was the opening chords of Reality TV.
We realized 40 minutes before we went on that night that Alan didn’t have a drum monitor… which he needs to play the sound of our amps and my vocal back to him (otherwise he’d just be hearing the echoing of the sound in the stadium / nothing at all)
So he ran on foot to B&H down the street and bought a drum monitor, ran back, and played the damn set. Crazy man.
I got styled by my fave Han @splitthelarkvintage in this crazy gorgeous custom canvas bee corset/skirt by @infausto_studio <3
Been pretty humbling opening these stadium shows… Most people in the pit of both Childers and Bleachers did not visibly fuck with our sound AT ALL …
Then I’d walk to the back of the stadium and the people in the cheap seats/ the fields at the amphitheaters were very stoked on us.
I think it goes to show ya that the $$$ people who can get the priciest tickets usually got the worst attitudes, and are the least open to anything other than the headliner.
I didn’t realize that our music was kinda inaccessible to a lot of people until these shows…. I gotta be honest, the reception made me feel really validated that we’re doing something interesting.
I’d never want to alienate anyone of course with the screaming and the volume and the noise…. but anytime I play to a room of our audience and they get the thing that I’m doing… SHIT it feels GREAT!!!
I was forreal out here thinking that our music was kinda something most people would be down with… sooooo interesting to play to crowds that are not our own.
I love the challenge of convincing people that are on the fence… there were many thousands of people at those shows that made their mind up that we were not their cup of tea the moment we started playing.
That being said… both the bands and the crew of those bands that we opened for really believe in what were doing and were like so excited to have us play these big ass rooms with them. So shouts out to them for like vouching for us etc etc.
I brought my parents to Newport <3 It was really really sweet… everyone was fucking with their presence backstage. Everywhere we went, people working at the festival kept sayin “What’s up George?!”
My dad was rizzing Joan Baez a bit…
Blowed out the trailer tire on the first drive of tour (1 hour in… had 8 hours yet to drive that day)
I think this is backstage at the Iowa show opening for Childers
got a lil Bart Simps tattoo backstage at the Hudson, NY show
